Getting Your Disability Benefits
How It Works
Legacy Pro Sports assist former NFL and MLB players in achieving a sustainable lifestyle by taking advantage of the benefits available to them.
The following is how it works in getting your disability benefits.
 Intake call
Intake call with our staff to discuss which disability benefit is right for you.
 Review Agreements
The client reviews and completes our contract, the Disability Application, and Authorized Representative Form.
Submit Application
Legacy submits the client’s application to the NFL Disability Office.
 Review Documentation
Legacy begins compiling medical records and documentation in support of the client’s application.
Receive Acknowldegement
Disability Office sends client an application acknowledgement.
Schedule Physician Visit
Disability Office schedules clients with a neutral physician (typically 2-3 weeks after submission of application).
Prep for Physician Visit
Legacy prepares the client for the meeting with a neutral physician.
Attend Physician Visit
The client attends physician evaluation.
Receive Approval
If the client is approved for the disability, Legacy will send in paperwork on their behalf.
Receive Results
NFL Disability Office sends results via email 2-4 weeks after evaluation.
 Receive Denial
If the client is not approved, the client and Legacy will discuss appeal options.
Receive Payment
Payments from the Disability Office will begin the following month.
