Who qualifies for MLB T&P disability?
MLB Total & Permanent disability is the one disability benefit available to former Major League players. It pays $6,000 a month until age 62 to players who can no longer work because of injury or illness, plus $600 a month for each qualified dependent.
The plan's definition is strict: a physical or mental illness or injury that keeps you from working in any job for substantial pay, expected to last at least five years. How your records describe your condition matters.
Former players need at least 4 years of credited Major League service and must not have started their MLB pension. Unlike the NFL plan, there's no filing window tied to your release date.
File within six months of becoming disabled and benefits are paid back to the date your disability began.
A Social Security disability finding can support your MLB claim. Tell us on your review.
